TABLE OF CONTENTS
As a player organization within the structure of
Dark Age Of Camelot, our first aim is to promote
the joys of playing the game. To achieve this, our members are admonished to be considerate, helpful, and
unselfish. It is hoped that through these qualities we, as a collective, will forge a strong and supportive
guild, a guild that will make the game more enjoyable for all of its members. In essence, guilds are societies.
Let's make ours one of the best.
The Children of Loki
guild plays in Midgard on the
Bedevere game server.
The Children of Loki guild
is run under a form of benevolent oligarchy. While many guild policies are voted on by members, the guild is
ultimately headed by a small group of officers, and the Guildmaster(s).
The Guildmaster has the final say in all guild-related matters, and holds the veto and/or tie-breaker vote in
all decisions made by the officers. The Guildmaster also finalizes guild policy, acts as Field General in
matters of guild warfare (as necessary), and will delegate specific duties to the officers, while helping guild
members as much as possible. If you have any questions about the guild, the Guildmaster should be your first
point of contact. Children of Loki currently has 3 active Guildmasters,
these being
Hagarrd,
Qisa, and
Mercag.
The current rank hierarchy of the guild is as follows:
Rank 0: Guildmaster
Rank 1: Loki's Chosen (officers)
Rank 2: Loki's Minion (officers alternate characters)
Rank 3: Warleader of Midgard
Rank 4: Defender of Midgard
Rank 5: Guardian of Midgard
Rank 6: Protector of Midgard
Rank 7: Warder of Midgard
Rank 8: Keeper of Midgard
Rank 9: Loki's Initiate
Next in the hierarchy are Loki's Chosen. The Chosen are the
officers of the guild, acting as the Guildmaster's right hand. The Chosen have the right to promote and demote
guild members, invite new guild members, and speak in the officer (via
/o) and alliance (via /as) chat
channels, in addition to the priviledges accorded to regular guild members. Officers are required to wear the
guild emblem at all times (though this is not required for stealth classes), especially when conducting
"official" guild matters, and preferably spend a portion of their time helping other guild members, either with
quest aid, hand-me-downs, or tips. Officers will also be asked to go out of their way to promote/demote current
members, or invite potential guildies whenever necessary. Finally, each officer is required to (at some point)
take on additional role in the guild; for example, Inventory Manager, or Events Coordinator.
Ideally, the goal is to maintain a 1:5 officer-to-member ratio
within the guild.
NOTE: While officers have the
ability to invite new players into the guild and promote current members through the various ranks, only a
Guildmaster can promote players to the officer rank of Loki's Chosen, demote players, or remove players from
the guild altogether.
The next rank in the guild is Loki's Minion. This rank is
reserved specifically for officer alternate characters, so if you see someone in the guild tagged as
a Minion, you should be aware that they have another character who is a guild officer.
All of the officer ranks listed above should be able to claim, upgrade, and release keeps.
The balance of the ranks in the guild are based on level ranges. The highest rank a regular member in
Children of Loki is the rank of
Warleader of Midgard, which is reserved for characters level
45 to 50.
Rank 3: Warleader of Midgard
Requires:
Allows:
- Highest rank attainable for non-officers in the guild
- Guild alliance chat (read/write)
- Can wear guild emblem
Rank 4: Defender of Midgard
Requires:
Allows:
- Guild alliance chat (read/write)
- Can wear guild emblem
Rank 5: Guardian of Midgard
Requires:
Allows:
- Guild alliance chat (read/write)
- Can wear guild emblem
Rank 6: Protector of Midgard
Requires:
Allows:
- Guild alliance chat (read/write)
- Can wear guild emblem
Rank 7: Warder of Midgard
Requires:
Allows:
- Guild alliance chat (read/write)
- Can wear guild emblem
Rank 8: Keeper of Midgard
Requires:
Allows:
- Guild alliance chat (read only)
- Can wear guild emblem
Rank 9: Loki's Initiate
Requires:
Allows:
- Guild chat (read/write)
- Cannot wear guild emblem
The last rank in the guild, listed above, is Loki's Initiate.
As the name implies, Initiates are new inductees to the guild. Before they can become full-fledged members,
they must exhibit some sort of value to (and interest in) the guild. If an Initiate has the power to wear an
emblem, he or she may be promoted from Initiate directly to Keeper of Midgard status once inducted into the
guild. Otherwise, Initiates are always inducted as Keepers, but only once they have registered on the guild
web site. As a final note, once a player has achieved Protector (L30+) or higher ranking within the guild with
one character, that player's alternate (or "alt") characters can skip the Initiate phase, being automatically
eligible for Keeper status.
If an Initiate makes no attempt to be promoted to Keeper status
(which really doesn't require a lot of effort to attain), his or her interest in participating in the guild
may come into question. At this point, the Guildmaster may take appropriate action, as necessary, possibly
removing the Initiate from the guild altogether. This is at the Guildmaster's discretion.
NOTE: The guild ranks above are
subject to change or modification at any time.
The Children of Loki is a strong guild and our ultimate goal is lofty we
seek to become a major force in
Bedevere's
Midgard. In order to do so, we require a solid member base of players who enjoy the game and are either
good at it, or are working toward higher levels of skill. It is important for our members to support each other,
thereby making the gameplay experience more fun and rewarding for everyone.
Our requirements are simple. Enjoy playing the game, and don't get in the way of others in their quest to
enjoy playing the game. Help each other to gain in power. Learn how best to cooperate, always keeping in mind
that the realm wars await you and your fellow guildies. Share old equipment with lower-level guild members if at
all possible. Craft weapons and armor at reduced prices for guildies. Behave with dignity and honor when
playing, especially with players from other guilds. Above all, have fun and keep the interests of your
guildmates in mind.
Our rules are simple as well. If you are L20+, wear the guild cloak at all
times. If you do not have the appropriate rank to wear the cloak (Keeper of Midgard or better), ask an
officer to promote you. If you do not have the 5g (cloak) or 10g (cloak & shield, optional) to pay for
your emblem, contact an officer and they will provide you with the funds.
TOA NOTE: It seems some cloaks in TOA (the Cetus Skin Cloak, for
example) are undyeable and un-emblemable. If you have one of these cloaks, you are an exception to the above
rule. However, if these cloaks are ever able to hold an emblem, we expect you to emblazon them. :)
There is no excuse for not wearing the guild cloak if you have the right rank and have the money to have
it emblazoned. If a guild officer spots you without a guild cloak within a reasonable amount of time after being
invited to the guild (or worse, if you are a long-term member), you will be given a warning. If it happens
again after a warning, you will be ejected from the guild unless you comply. This is serious, and we do take
action against people who violate the cloak rule.
NOTE: Shadowblades and Hunters (both of Midgard's stealth classes)
are not required to wear the guild cloak due to the cloak bug in stealth mode.
Finally, all members are required to register on the guild web site forums. This is in order to keep track
of members, and make sure they all stay up-to-date with guild events.
We have recently changed out recruitment policy due to the implementation of
the /level command on the Bedevere server. Here is the current
recruitment policy:
- You must be level 36 or greater in order to join the guild
- You must apply in the Guild Applications forum of the
guild web site in order to be considered for admission to the guild
If you meet both of these criteria, we will let you know if you've been accepted into the guild. The officers
reserve the right to bar people from entry if they have a previous (bad) history in the guild, or if they
are known as troublesome characters in the server. Meeting the entrance rules
does not guarantee acceptance into the guild.
These rules may change down the road, but in order to weed out "BG3 warriors", we needed to restrict the
level of admittance to something above battlegrounds level. We understand that it is frustrating for newer
players of the game, but joining Loki is well worth the wait. Be patient. :)
A recently added feature to Dark Age of Camelot is the extremely popular
(and free!) Foundations expansion,
which allows for guild and player housing in specific housing zones.
Children of Loki has established a guild house in the village of Mossdale, in the Carlingford housing zone.
The COL guild house can be visited at lot #1864
in Mossdale. A map of the region is available here.
The guild house contains a guild vault (open to all members rank 8 or higher), a healer, and several crafting
tools. It also contains convenient porters to take you to the frontier (Svasud Faste), and the Shrouded Isles
expansion (Aegirhamn). In the future, these merchants may be swapped around as is necessary. If the porter
or merchant you are looking for is not in the guild house, ask your guildmates, as many houses nearby contain
merchants not available in the guild house. All service-providing NPCs in the housing zone provide a 25%
discount over their regular counterparts, so keep this in mind when you next need to visit and Enchanter, Smith,
or Healer.
As a guild, we encourage members to purchase houses close to the guild house. Currently, the village of
Mossdale is either full or very close to it, but neighbouring villages such as Kelby
Leixlip
have a good deal of available space and are in close proximity to Mossdale (i.e. a 10 to 15 second run from the
guild house, approximately.) Owning your house near the guild house is not a requirement of members, but it
is very handy, since most of the guild's primary crafters currently reside in Mossdale as well, and many
services are provided that you cannot obtain without purchasing your own merchants.
The Children of Loki guild is home to a variety of crafters. As it stands, we
have Legendary Grandmaster (LGM) rank crafters in all of the 6 available crafts Armorcraft, Weaponcraft,
Fletching, Tailoring, Alchemy, and Spellcrafting. In most cases, we have more than one LGM crafter for each
craft. Our guild crafters will generally give a nice discount to players in the guild. The amount discounted
is at the discretion of the crafter, but you should normally pay less than if you were to go to another
crafter outside the guild.
If you are looking to have crafting done, check out our
member list and find the crafter you need. If they are online, feel free
to send them a tell. However, please do not expect them to drop whatever they are doing to craft for you. At
higher levels, crafting is a tedious and time consuming process, and most crafters like to handle orders at
their own pace. You may find a crafter willing to work for you immediately, but if they do not have time
to handle your order right away, please do not press them until they are ready. As mentioned previously,
in most cases there will be another guild crafter able to help you out. If so, feel free to check around;
where one person may be busy, another may be more than willing to help you right away.
If you are unable to find a crafter online to help you out, you are more than welcome to do a /who and
ask crafters outside the guild for help. For example, /who alchemist
should bring back a list of all alchemists online who are flagged with their tradeskill (which generally
means they are taking orders.) Alternatively, you can try posting your order on the web site in the
Trader Loki's Emporium forum (which is also used for more
complex orders such as masterpiece items, or spellcrafting orders), or you can try searching the guild
consignment merchants in Mossdale and the surrounding area (or via the Market Explorers at the entrance and
market of each housing zone.) Note that guild consignment merchants may not have discounted prices, so if
you see an item on a guild merchant, it's possible that waiting and speaking the crafter in question may
get you that item at a cheaper price.
If you are a crafter yourself, you may be able to receive some funding from the guild, if your craft is
one that the guild is lacking active crafters for. This is not mandatory, so do not expect your guildmates to
donate funds to you. It's entirely optional, but if you do find someone who is willing to help you out with
funding, we suggest you be very nice to them. :)
Cooperation is essential in realm warfare. If you find yourself in a group, be as
helpful and cooperative as possible. Make sure there is a definite
leader in your group, and follow that leader's orders as quickly and efficiently as possible. If a
target is named, and an attack ordered, follow through immediately. Battles are often won or lost based on
split-second decisions. Your mis-timed action could very well cause the death of your entire force.
If you happen to be the designated leader of your group, know your business. If you are a Realm vs. Realm
newbie, do not accept the leadership role. Fall into a supportive role and learn.
It is in RvR warfare that our guild needs the best representation to other guilds. More than at any other
stage in the game, members are asked to play with honor, respect, and dignity. Do your best, and make not only
your fellow guildmates proud, but the rest Midgard as well. Your successes as a higher level character have the
potential to translate into statistical bonuses for the entire realm.
Finally, as a higher-level character, always be willing to answer the call to arms. Sometimes relic raids
hit with little or no warning, and only the few and most powerful are able to save Midgard from defeat.
Likewise with raids that we initiate. It takes enormous numbers to conquer an enemy keep. Sometimes one or
two players can be all it takes for the scales to tip in our favor. In the process, you're also promoting our
guild. Keep that in mind when engaging the enemy with fellow players from Midgard you never know when
you might run into a guild-less player looking for a friend.
We encourage all guild members to frequent the web site, especially the message
forums. The web site has been built in order to facilitate intra-guild communications; in the future, it may
be used to host guild alliance discussions, arrange guild hunts and other events (via a dynamic online calendar,
which is nearly complete), and manage guild inventory.
Currently, members can discuss the state of the guild in the forums, check out the guild's member list and
character data, and post and/or view screenshots in the screenshot gallery. The guild web site will continue
to expand, and we want all members to participate in discussions relating to the guild's welfare and warfare.
As was said earlier, the Children of Loki is a strong and growing
organization. As members, we are each responsible for the quality of our guild through skilled, cooperative, and friendly play.
Work together to accomplish guild and realm goals, or to help individuals achieve personal goals. Above all, have fun. Guilds are
all about making friends and, with those friends, experiencing parts of the game one could never experience alone. Enjoy!
